On January 31, 2024, a representative of the United States Institute of Peace (USIP) Office in Nigeria and Coordinator of the Conflict Mitigation and Community Policing (CMCP) Project, Dr Isioma Kemakolam, paid a courtesy visit to the Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution Network (PS&CRN) and the Abdulsalami Abubakar Institute for Peace and Sustainable Development Studies (AAIPSDS) office in Minna, Niger State. Dr. Kemakolam was received by Dr. Diamond Nebechukwu, Director of AAIPSDS and Board member of PS&CRN, and David Kemedubei, project assistant of PS&CRN. The other participants are Gideon Avom, USIP project officer for Niger State and Dr. Kamal Hamza, lecturer at Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida University (IBBU), Lapai, Niger State.

The visit was the first time the CMCP project coordinator had visited the state since the project was launched in October 2023. The purpose of the visit was to enable Dr. Kemakolam to meet with CMCP stakeholders and project partners in the state. The issues discussed at the meeting included insecurity and law enforcement response in state, the status of CMCP project implementation,  support to law enforcement, and PS&CRN and AAIPSDS activities in Niger state. Dr. Kemakolam, who thanked the partners for their warm reception and support to the CMCP project, shared some of the concerns of the Niger State commissioner of police and NSCDC commandant whom she visited.
